Maddie, Alice and the Mad Hatter

Once again Alice in Wonderland has crept into our lives..... and no it's not the New Tim Burton Movie.... yet ( that's another blog ) My Sister in law "to be" phoned last night and asked Maddie to be a junior Bridesmaid at their August wedding this year.... but... here's the kewl part.... Maddie will be wearing her Alice dress... the wedding is going to be the Mad Tea Party!! THIS should be fun!! Anitra sent me a picture of her cake... and it's the coolest thing ever! I don't want to spoil the surprise so you'll have to wait for that picture.... but be assured it's unique!

Maddie made these cards a couple of days ago.... Foreshadow??? I think so!

If you want to see a local Calgarians view of the Olympics you can go check it out. We'll live vicaiously thru them!! How fun, I can't wait to hear all the details! http://www.glaudia2010.blogspot.com/

Candy Dish wins...

On one of me and Maddie's travels we found this little gem. Being the Halloweeny person that I am, always on the lookout for items to decorate my favorite day. When I saw it, no other thot entered my head, except "candy dish" when we got home Maddie promptly put gobstoppers in it, but when Dean got home he said "nice ashtray". We were stupefied? That never occurred to us that it could be an ashtray?? So, instead of calling a friend we posted a poll. :-) Thankfully our audience agreed with me and Maddie, 9 to 1, so we can happily and safely, put candy in our dish again :-)

Macabre Monday Card

One of my favorite blogs http://haunteddesignhouse.blogspot.com/ has a challenge every Monday, this week was to make a vampire card... I simply could not pass this up.... so here is my vampy little vampire :-) This pretty little stamp ( without the fangs ) is from Greeting farm and called "Autumn Fairy"

I win!! oh? I wasn't bidding??

so, I'm sitting at the computer today, and an email comes thru' " you have been outbid" I scratch my head?? Hmmm Maddie must be bidding on an item?" so I go to the site and add .50 cents to the bid. "There", I think, good Mommy, and I smile to myself. Half an hour later there is another email,"you have been outbid" "oh no" I think, so I add another .50 cents. That should be good I think and walk away. Another half hour.... email again...... NO!! outbid again.... grrrr who is this person outbidding my Maddie??? so I add .50 cents AGAIN, there is one hour left.... we'll see what happens. 30 minutes left..... email, out bid! GRRRR .50 cents....... 20 minutes... outbid!!!! .50 cents..... now I wait...... like a cat creeping in the grass, I open the other screen and have the countdown clock on one side.... and my next bid ready to send at the last minute...... tick tick..... 2 minutes..... 20 seconds..... .50 cents hit send........ get ready to jump.... YAY I win the bid. :-) phew, tough work! So I text Maddie, "were you bidding on anything today?? all excited to tell her the news.... and she texts back.... no I just put them on watch!!??? LOL well, she won them anyway!

Maddie saw a pair of these in an antique store and didn't get them, she kept talking about them and so when these were up for bid, I just assumed .... lol oh well, she'll love them anyway and find a use for them :-)

My kewl daughter...

When we were in Eureka, Maddie found a hat that was perfect for her, there was no price tag on it, so she asked and was told a price... then Maddie saw the bag of jewelry that I spoke of 2 days ago, and was trying to figure out funds. Maddie put the hat on her head, and looked so cute the clerk threw the hat in. :-)

The first Maddie necklace from the bag if goodies :-)

Antiquing in Montana

We drove into the town of Rexford to shop at the Kraft and Grocery store. We got some almond bark that was very yummy. There was a cool signpost outside that stated how far certain destinations are.

in Rexford, the local store.

Then we drove into Eureka looking for a new teacup for Maddie. We went to a thrift shop, which had a fun teapot, but no cups. Maddie did find a few other things tho. Then we went to Libby's Attic.

Nana and Papa checking out the prints...

and Maddie found the ultimate bag of goodies. Broken, and unpaired earrings, and pieces of jewelry. As we speak, she is rearranging them and making necklaces and broaches. Ideas are flying around her head, so she has to take notes. But, she is having a blast, and will come up with some very unique pieces :-)

Haunted Jaunt..

We have been hearing about the haunted house since Dean and Ruby bought their cabin, and today we finally got to see it!

we stepped over barbed wire and made our way to the door....

inside their is a rumpled bed.....

and the kitchen with pots on the stove and a table ready for breakfast sat there....

...the piano waited to be played

and the dishes waited for food....
Maddie found an old letter on the floor, was it addressed to the old owner?

a calendar with the date 1988....

books all aligned waiting to be opened again...

a sewing machine in the basement has long since seen thread

back upstairs Maddie in the kitchen....

the bedroom downstairs....

the porch is starting to cave in...

the house from the front...

just how big is this bird???????
The House was fascinating! It sits abandoned, stocked with dishes and antiques, the doors are open but nothing goes missing! Nobody knows who owns it, and so the land can't be bought. The house is in fairly good shape, minus the rat droppings and dead cat skeleton on the chair.... but it could be saved, if only the mysterious owners family came forward. Rumour has it he committed suicide in LA and nobody knows anything else?
