Lake Louise Ice Festival

Thankfully the weather warmed up, because this weekend wouldn't have been as fun if it had stayed -30!!

We ate at the hotel, and right outside our window there was an ice carving competition, One Carver, One Hour, One Block. The guy we were watching cut his block in half, stacked them on top of each other and starting carving. The theme this year was a "play on words" so he was making a "C" turtle. Very kewl!
Snow flying.... the turtle starts to take form
 almost done...
 Outside our Hotel
Then we headed to Chateau Lake Louise to see the rest of the ice sculptures.
 At the Ice Bar
 Looking thru the castle window
 Lake Louise
We got a bottle of wine included in our hotel room fee!
On Sunday the sun was shining so the ice took on a whole new look!

only 2 hours left til the competition ends. They had 36 hours to carve 15 blocks of ice.
 This was "freeze"
