Gruesome Fantasica!

Here we are, Cold Ethyl, and Living Dead Girl.... we posed for a few people at the concert, we may show up on a couple of face book pages lol
The concert started at about 8pm, Alice Cooper was on first, he started out with School's Out, Everybody sang, and it just got better... I saw Alice a few years back, and he had scrapped his stage show, I was a little disappointed, but the music was great so I forgave him.... but when we arrived at the concert the curtain covering the stage said Stage of Death ( if that's wrong I'll correct it ) anyway I said to Maddie... oooo I hope that means his stage show is back?? OMG!!! It was back in full swing just like in the 80's!! That man can rock... I googled his birthday when I got home, he is 62!! Anyway enough about age, the show was gruesomely wicked!! He had costume changes for almost every song, we saw him killed by guillotine, death by hanging, skewered with metal spikes, and injected with a massive prop syringe, Nurse Rosetta was there, and did a strip tease behind a screen, which we then witnessed Alice go behind the screen and strangle her with her own stockings. He was put in a straight jacket and sang a song like that, strapped in sitting by the edge of the stage. When he sang Cold Ethyl, he said to a dead girl, slung over his lap. It was so good to see the Old Alice back in full swing! For the song Only Women Bleed, the audience swayed and held up their lighters, I only had a cell phone light, but I held it high and proud. I think this is the list... close anyway, he played for 75 minutes, and we enjoyed every minute!

Onto Mr Rob Zombie.... WOW! he came onto stage a hundred miles an hour, with small, medium and large TV screens all blaring images from horror movies past, psychedelic images, fire and heart blips, you name it, it went across one of those screens. Zombie had 3 little stages he would stand on, dance on, jump from and leap to, at one point he grabbed a light and walked into the audience shining the light on the crowd, he walked up one stairwell and we were so hoping he would come up ours, me and Maddie were right in the front of it, but he didn't :-( He was energy in a ragged biker outfit that looked so awesomely zombiesh, that I was sure if he waved his hand, sparks would fly from his fingers! His part of the concert was jam packed with visual videos, lights and huge sound! When Zombie sang Living dead Girl, me and Maddie felt like he was singing it just for us, being dead and all...lol Werewolf women of the SS was hilarious, and had everyone howling like a wolf.. and when his encore came on with a Herman Munster video driving a speedster and the beginning of Dragula started the crowd went NUTS! It was an awesome, awesome night!!

Voices from the Highschool

We were entertained tonight by a bunch of high school kids, who, in a heart felt, emotional play stunned the audience. These kids tonight, touched on every subject, joyous and painful that goes on, in the life of a teenager! I cried ( no surprise) and I laughed and I was proud of the hard work these teens put in tonight! For weeks, Maddie has stayed at school late for rehearsals, she has recited her lines in the shower, and gave up all social activities for pretty much 2 months... and it was soooo worth it tonight! Dean's parents came up for the play, and we saw a few familiar faces in the audience in support of Maddie, it was wonderful to see :-) It was an awesome play! Tonight was the last performance after 7 shows. It was well received and well deserved.

These are... The voices from the highschool
their beloved teacher and director, Mr Doyle

a very proud Mommy :-) and an equally proud daughter

proud grandparents, the Proud Dean is behind the camera

6 Degrees of White Castle, Dupont Circle, The White House and Kal Penn.

You know that saying that everyone is connected? I felt really connected to a news story I read today.
Ever since we saw the movie Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle we had a craving for those delicious little burgers. Well on our honeymoon in 2008, we actually did go to White Castle and we found those little burgers to be pretty great.
Here is a pic of our visit:

The Famous Slider.
Just look on almost any menu these days and you'll find these cool little burgers.

Ok, why am I rambling on about these tiny burgers? Ok, besides that it's supper time? Well, one of the stars of the Harold and Kumar movies, Kal Penn, was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, DC. He was not hurt. Yahoo! News reports:

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Actor Kal Penn, who appeared in the TV medical drama "House" and the "Harold and Kumar" movies, and worked as a White House aide, was robbed at gunpoint in Washington DC Tuesday, his publicist said.
Penn, 32, who served as a political liaison with the Asian American community, was in the Dupont Circle area of the US capital after midnight when a gunman stole his wallet and other belongings, the Washington Post said.
His Hollywood-based publicist, Jennifer Goodwin confirmed the incident to AFP, but declined to provide further details.
Entertainment Weekly reported on April 2 that Penn planned to leave the White House and return to his acting career, with a Christmas-themed "Harold and Kumar" movie in the pipeline.
Penn was a prominent campaigner during President Barack Obama's 2008 White House bid, and was offered a job in the administration in 2009.

When we were in Washington, DC, the hotel we stayed at was in Dupont Circle. When we walked around, we were luckier that Mr. Penn.

Here's a pic:

Dupont Circle.
On that same trip, we visited George W. Bush's White House where as the above article mentions Mr. Penn was recently employed. Here's a pic:

Strange eh?

Not quite a robin?

I heard an unfamiliar sound today, and as it was not yet, quite a robin, I'm thinking this is also a sure sign of summer!!
The smell of the fresh cut (dead) grass wafted into the room, that was kinda nice :-)

yes once again I am stalking my neighbor!

April Snow brings May ??? what?

Maddie is on Spring break, so we chose today as our play-day. We got up early and went shopping, it looked like a a beautiful day when we started out. On the drive home we passed thru some rain, a few drops here and there, no biggy, the clouds were getting blacker tho? We decided to get some Italian food, it's been awhile since we were at our favorite grocery store. So we picked up lots of yummy treats, and had a feast! Then at some point, we sat down and played our online game Runescape. Suddenly we looked up and wondered what all the racket was about! We could barely see out the front window? How long were we playing?? Surely this is an Aprils fools joke? But no, just chalk it up as more weird Calgary weather! Only problem is.... our power keeps flicking... and we would be out of luck playing our game for the rest of the afternoon! :-(
