Easter Bunny strikes again

I thot it would be Maddie waking me up early to go on an Easter egg hunt this morning... but it was a woodpecker... ( maybe revenge for falling in the fire ) anyway at 8AM I heard knock - knock - knock... assuming it was Maddie, but no she was peacefully slumbering on the couch where we left her. So.... I woke HER up hehehehe, but she wasn't upset when I told her I heard the Easter bunny this morning.... so off she galloped outside to find her treasures. She tisketed and tasketed thru the trees, and found all her goodies.

it was a tall bunny this year..... we're in deer country.......

Day in the town of Eureka

Today we headed to the big town of Eureka, for more beer, The best burgers in town and some antiquing.......

the bend before the bridge over Koocanusa Lake

Maddie found an old school camera in one of the shops.

this is a peek thru the window of the smallest Antique Room I've ever seen, it was jam packed , but the prices were jacked up very high! A coke thermometer for 250.00 and a Looney Toons lunch box for 80.00 yikes..... definitely look but don't touch!!

tiny huh?

we did find a few treasures on our travels, I'll blog that after ;-) we went for lunch to Cafe Jax, we heard the burgers were awesome......

happy camper with a giant rootbeer float!

the burgers did not disappoint, they WERE awesome! The decor in Jax was very entertaining too, just coming from Antique shops, this place was full of old treasures.

heading back home, beer in hand and some?? Mikes Hard?? where did those come from?? Maddie???

Rush Hour Hits Eureka!

Today we spent the day relaxing in the Montana paradise. It was so nice! But modern life, no matter how peaceful, must intrude. Rush hour hit so I snapped a picture of the gridlock:

Happy Easter from Montana!

Lucky Birdy

This afternoon was the start of our long weekend in Montana at Ruby and Dean's cabin. First Carolyn worked an extra 1/2 to cover my shift so we could get out of town ahead of the rush, Maddie took the train to the store and we headed home to get Dean. Our mad dash out of the city and onto the highway.... where we saw..... nothing....

it was a white out! Driving snow, slushy roads, for about 15 minutes, then we hit the BC border and the snow stopped it looked like smooth sailing.... but then it snowed again. Anyway we made it across the border ( thanx again to Carolyn and Linda who covered my shift when I realized last minute that my passport expired, and Dean had to take me downtown to get a new one last Friday!! ) anyhooooo, we got across, and made it to the grocery store with 20 minutes left to shop. Close call.... yes Carolyn that was the 30 minutes you gave me today! Otherwise we would have been eating roasted almonds until tomorrow when we could get back to the store. The cabin is about an hour away. So.... we get the oven heated up for pizza, and Dean started a fire in the wood stove.... soon after he went to check on said fire..... and something dropped into the fireplace??? he put his beer and cell phone down so fast and actually swore in front in front of Maddie.... you know it's bad when.... me and Maddie asked with shocked sounds... What?? he said there is a bird in the wood stove!!! OMG! Maddie's little face had a look of horror, and we didn't know what to do, dean grabbed a towel and opened the fireplace door, the bird dropped out, Dean tried to move it and it squawked a horrible sound.... then it just sat there. And sat there...not moving.....we were afraid it was dead??? Then Dean remembered on Friends, Rachel trapped a bird in a pot, but the closest thing was an empty Coors box... so he plopped the box over the birdy, and slid it towards the door. At this point I said, he looks ok?? And we all agreed, he wasn't freaking out, so it was time to get the camera.

there's the luckiest little bird I ever did see........

once we got him outside and could see him better we noticed he was covered in soot, so it was hard to even see what color he was. He still just sat there tho?? I pet him, just to get him to move a bit and he started to hop.... then he seemed to get a breath of fresh air and continued to hop...

to the stairs.... down the stairs and across the grass. He wasn't flying but I think he was fine, and just needed fresh air.... so..... now we can enjoy the fire, and the pizza, and the beer, sit back and relax............ Happy long weekend everyone!!

Dirty Laundry

Last night Dean and I went to the improv theatre in the base of the Calgary Tower. We had no idea what to expect, but man was it funny!! The improv has been running for 11 years, the story changes and it's actually a soap opera, but... there is no script. Some of the stuff that happens is hilarious when the actors try and lead each other on a certain path. One poor guy they asked to sing in Spanish, another smacked his hand on a lamp, actually breaking it, this lead the next scene into having to clean it up. When someone yelled shutup to the other, the "maid" said, this is going to be a quiet scene..... it was very amusing and well worth the 15 buck ticket price!! Now we are hooked tho' we want to know more.... we may just have to check out the "Dirt" on another Monday night. I added the link, so you can check it out yourself. http://www.dirtylaundrycalgary.com/season_11_web/plot.html

It's all perspective

Maddie likes Hello Kitty, and I like her friend Chococat. A couple of birthdays ago, Maddie gave me this cute Chococat necklace, so I deemed it my Lucky necklace, no reason, other than it was adorable. So last night when I was all nervous about teaching the class, I wore my "lucky" necklace. Never.... have I looked at this cute thing and thot'.... my good luck charm is a....... BLACK CAT!!! Rofl!! I guess it's all perspective!

A Big Day

Maddie is in the Cosmo program at St. Mary's. Every morning she starts her day there, then goes on to her regular highschool for the afternoon. She got the approval the other day from her teacher to do clients, so I signed up! We had to warn the teacher ahead about my hair, the length and the many colors... but she approved with confidence that Maddie could do it. So when I arrived this morning, the teacher said, yep, this would normally be for an advanced student... but we had faith :-)

Maddie soon proved that she could handle my many colors, it did take the whole morning tho' so afterwards there was no point in heading over to the high school, so I kidnapped her for the afternoon......

this one one of Maddie's 15/15 marks. She got perfect marks on her updo.... shortly before the teacher told her not to expect 15's in the first year....
us in front of the school, contemplating where to go now.....
my many shades gleaming in the sunlight....

first stop China Town for some sticky rice peanut... thingys. So yummy, hard, but fun to eat, definitely yummy tho

then off on the train again ( I was too chicken to drive downtown ) just so happened at our stop where we parked the car... there were deep fried pickles calling out our names... so we had to oblige

. and then with all the fun behind me.... I headed to work to teach my first class.... I had done a few digital classes in the past, but nothing planned or created.... so needless to say I was nervous... having everyone's eyes on me, waiting for my instruction puts sweat on my brow.... but when I got to the class, it was filled with familiar faces... it was a small class so we all got to be at one table... and I actually survived! I only had 1 coke, and my class had fun :-) NOT something I would do on a regular basis, but I did have fun with this one.... and now that it's over, I can sigh a deep breath of relief!

This was our project in "That Box Class" and everyone let me take a picture so I could blog... they are all slightly different, I like how they turned them into thier own with the little touches.

Grocery Scare

Ok.... there is no limit to what some people will do.. I was in Safeway last night after work and this cute little old woman in line kept staring at me... I'm used to that because well.... my hair is all different colors, I have weird nail polish, and I'm goofy. So people stare at me all the time. Anyway I kinda feel like the back of my head is having holes bored into it, so I sorta jolted and looked back at the woman. She touched my arm and said, I'm sorry dear you just look so much like my daughter... and she died last year. Now I feel like a heel.... "oh" I said.... not really sure what else to say. But i did let her go ahead of me since she only had a few things. She kept talking about her daughter in the short time we were in line, and she was almost referring to me as her daughter.... AWKWARD, I kept wishing the people ahead had less items. Finally she's at the till, and everything goes thru then she leans in close to the girl at the till and whispers something.... then she leaves, the clerk turns to me and says, your mom said you were paying!!! I'm like "what? that's not my mom.... for a little old lady she booked it pretty quick in all the confusion, so I ran out after her. Being the only nice weather we've had I didn't have a big stupid coat to slow me down, I caught up with her just as she was getting into her car and I yelled at her STOP. she tried getting into her car and I ended up grabbing her leg, and I started tugging and pulling on her leg...... just like I'm pulling yours.... Moi hahaha Happy April Fools Day!!!
