Wine country....

This morning 11 of us boarded a wine tour bus and headed to 6 wineries. First on the list was the oldest vineyard with some vines as old as 40 years. This was Langs. Very impressive, and very good wines!

Kewl shot of the bride to be

3rd on the tour, this vineyard was started with smuggled vines from Yugoslavia.

Very kewl pic by Dean!

the grape vines. We had an awesome lunch here at Hillside.
then we traveled into Penticton, a minute in, and stopped at a new vineyard, Ruby Tuesdays, neat decor, neat labels......

..... not a favorite tho!

...sorry Ruby, maybe next time.

This was our favorite!! Elephant island. Their speciality was cherry wine from 30 year old trees in their orchard. Any fruit wine that we tasted here, had that distinct flavour of the fruit, not just a "hint", apricot, black current and raspberry were our fave's! it was really hard to choose only 1 to buy!
a crate full of Pink Elephant Champagne

the colors of the wines were so brilliant!

Therapy vineyards, the 6th stop on out tour was an unscheduled one. This is Brandy's favorite vineyard and since she was disappointed in Ruby Tuesday, the driver took us to one more stop! I loved the names of the wines here! very witty :-)

back at the lodge, the driver handed us all our vino that we purchased, there were only 11 of us.... but there were allot of bottles!! Thanx Bran that was an awesome day!! and an added bonus that we got to spend it with you! :-)
After a rest back at the cabin, and a cool down... (the weather has been beautiful, and hot hot hot!! ) we headed to lodge for 6pm for a great BBQ. Not your typical burgers and dogs... there was a perfectly BBQ'd beef roast, for a beef dip, and yummy salads. Now we must rest for the big day tomorrow.......

Arrival in Naramata

We arrived in Naramata at about 6:30 and set the Gps to Sandy Beach Resort the resort where Sean and brandy are getting married. It was a beautiful night, we ordered pizza and sat around the deck for a bit. Maddie and Sean's daughter Taylor hit it off right away.

Telly to Lumby

This is a picture that only a Runescaper would understand. But here goes, in Runescape you can teleport to Lumby. The action is to draw a circle around yourself, sit and read, and your transported..... here we are waiting to be sent to Lumby :-) For you katieface!

Lunch with the critters

We found a picnic table, and stopped for lunch. At first we were all alone, then we noticed a few Magpies around. They seemed to like the tomatoes we were eating. Then we saw a little chipmunk ( gopher? groundhog? I'm not sure, cute little furry thing ) and then ravens came! It was time to get out!

Hard to see him, but he's in front of the big rock, ( click to enlarge )

The road to Naramata

We headed out this morning bright and early, destination Naramata BC for my freinds, Brandy and Sean's wedding. First stop was at the spiral tunnels. It was Dean's lucky day, because Maddie and I have stopped here many times, but there are no trains in sight. But today just as we pulled up the train was going thru the tunnel full steam ahead and we could see it in 3 different places. If you don't know what the Spiral Tunnels are all about, it is a very steep climb thru the mountains that a train would never be able to do. So what they did was build the track in a spiral thru the mountain so that like a snake it wound it's way around. So at times you can see the train coming out of the tunnel, and the end is still entering. It's really kewl, but you have to time it just right.... like today!

The mountains are beautiful!

Stage West does it again

Stage West is batting 1000 for us. The Napa's and us went to see The Buddy Holly Story last night. It was great! Maddie even knew a few songs! But she enjoyed the story, and Zack, that played Buddy, was awesome! He really captured his singing technique. It was a great evening.

WOW!

WOW seriously, that's the best word to describe the new Star Trek! Dale and I ( and Evar ) went to see the movie last night. It was sooooo good, I wanted to turn around, buy another ticket and see it again immediately!! The characters were awesome!! Just enuff of the old, for us Trekkies, but not to much to make it corny.... I, it... really, all I can say is - Go see it!!

H1N1 Up Close...

We were waiting for Katie to get off the plane and we noticed some passengers taking some extra precautions against H1N1....

However, the rest of the passengers seemed less concerned as you can see....
