Russy turns 40

Last week our maid of honour turned 50, this week the best man turned 40! Tania had a party for Russy's birthday on Saturday. His family came in from the Hat and we drove to the deep South, only a special occasion warrented going out in this bizarre weather. I noted that it looked like we've been stuck in a Stephen King novel days, fog, ice and hoarfrost covering eveything! Anyway enuff about the weather, let's get to the specatular cake that Tania made! We asked where she had it made because it was so kewl!! I wish I had the good camera with me, I would have gotten more detailed pix. Russy always says 'back on the farm" so that was the theme. Their daughter's name is Madison too, so we call her little Maddie. The kids were busy decorationg cows, and sheep and pigs for the walls.

amazing cake!!!

Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you......

We almost went to a movie after Russy's but there were pileups on Deerfoot, we even had to detour, and a disaterous excuse for roads... so we went home to hibernate.

YUCK!!!

Gold's Gym

Back in the day, Dale and I used to go to the Gym 4 times a week...... yes I said back in the day... anyway, I was telling her about Zumba at her birthday party, and everyones eyes lit up!! So this Friday I had a gaggle of girls with me to try out the new craze Zumba..... it's the funnest workout I have ever had.. ( sorry Dale, your work outs just weren't as much fun ) but Zumba is the weirdest exercise ever... because, I feel like I'm dying sometimes.... but I have this stupid grin on my face all the time.... it's just so fun!!

Gloria and Carolyn and I joined Gold's Gym at the beginning of the year, and every time I lug my giant heavy ( it always seems heavier after zumba ) camera to take a pic of us, something happens and one of us can't show up. Tonight both Gloria and Carolyn missed, so I will no longer jinx them by bringing my camera, and I took a pic of Dale and I instead. Just like the old days, us in front of a Gym, ( back then it was World's )

Here is a little clip of how fun Zumba is.....

CSI: Beer Edition

The cool thing about scrapbooks is when we have a question about something in our history, a scrapbook somewhere usually contains the answer. The question today was: What beer did I drink for our first married beer? The pic in this post clearly shows Selena chose Corona but what did I drink? You can't really tell. So we went to work. By zooming in and doing some serious forensic picture analysis - we found that my bottle has an engraving near the neck of the bottle.
Then we went to google images and found a bottle with the same engraving.
Case solved! I had a bud. Next case!

Dale turns 50

Well my little friend Dale has turned the big 5-0. not that you would know. She's a fireball, quickqitted and well.... let's just say you can tell she works out everyday! She gathered some friends together last night to celebrate her big day ( which is really on Wednesday ) and we went to a restaurant called the Flat Iron. We walked in and we happened to be the first to arrive, so I got to choose where we sat, and where Dale sat... hehehe my evil plan worked :-) but because she is fun to tease I texted her and said we're here at the La Dolce Vita. She had a little panic attack because up until Friday that was the original plan and she was worried somebody wouldn't get the change.... so a perfect opportunity to mess with her :-) the texts went back and forth a bit, until she walked in and saw us.... she called me evil! lol

me and Dale

the menu's at The Flat Iron

haha love the signs posted all around

Evar and Dean

my broken lasagna.... it was Yummy!

Leticia and Shauna (and yes Leticia is in a time warp, but it was on purpose, it was 80's day at work... lol don't judge!)

Dale's friend George brought the cake! Hilariously perfect!!

this was a funny moment... I wanted a picture of Dale by the "Flat Iron" building poster... so people were watching us leave the table, first Dean and I, then Dale, then Evar... and we all had cameras. The other people watching were the line up of guys waiting on the other side of that wall... you see this is also the entrance to the bathrooms!
So the evening was a success.... nobody went to the wrong restaurant, the food was great, the service awesome, they even put Dale's cake in the fridge for her, and served it up after supper! Happy Birthday Dale..... :-)

The little clip below will show you what we were imitating.....

what the heck..

I have no pictures for this blog, and that is weird in itself! Ang and Nate were having their windows installed so there house would be noisy, cold and dusty, so we decided to continue the crop after breakfast on Sunday.... we met at Ricki's in the wee hours of the morn.... ( so this is what morning looks like?) anyway breakfast was great, and then we came home and started setting up. Dean was busy in the kitchen with some prep for supper later, and then the boys went up to one room and we stayed and scrapped.... or that was the plan.... I had a bad night, chills, and aches which resulted in a rotten sleep. Since I usually run quite fine on no sleep it didn't concern me too much.... but after mving around some paper, I got lightheaded and had to sit, then lie down and eventually fall asleep. I felt awful! When I got up I felt queasy so I stayed down. Poor Ang felt bad with me feeling so bad, but as they say misery loves company, and it didn't matter to me what couch I layed on... so I was the most boring host. I couldn't even eat Dean's supper :-( it was a sucky day. The reason I am blogging, even without pictures, is the odd timing of this illness... last year I was also sick.... and Tommorow is our anniversary.... do I have another dinner where I am a zombie coming up??

Sue's crop

A couple of years ago, I went to my first crop.... Sue's. She has a 2 day crop in the South, ( and you know it's good if I travel to the South ) there are prizes galore, and the food is amazing!! Since that first crop I have been to many now, but this is still meyfavorite. Last weekend, Sue had another crop and it was awesome as usual!

this year we had more room.... a whole table to ourselves! Holly and I had to scoot chairs to take a pic together.

Kate missed the Friday night part, but she was here bright and early Saturday morn to scrap with us.

Gloria is like the girl in Lemony Snicket's, when she is inventing she puts her hair up, and with style only a scrapbooker would understand, she used a bone folder!

Gloria's table were she scrapbooked her cute kids.

Meanwhile in the kitchen Sue was busy getting breakfast ready, pulling fresh cinnamon buns out of the oven! I wish I could translate the yummy smell from that pan!

coffee was a brewing.....
and fruit was being prepared....

as I mentioned there were door prizes, it took our table awhile to win anything, but then the tickets were hittin'

Holly had tough decisions but she finally chose one
this was our table, yep everything but the kitchen sink...

the treats didn't stop... cupcakes in the wee hours!
Holly, Gayle and Sue

and those are ALL my tickets.... lol no winning ones!
I did get a good amount of pages done.... and some of them I am even happy with! Closing the gap of the scrapbooks... one page at a time.

Bengt Washburn

We went to the Comedy cave last night with Ang and Nate... we arrived to an empty theater. We looked around, sat at a table that looked a safe distance from being heckled and ordered our supper. Good food, good beer, still empty.... then a few tables filled up but not alot. The announcer came out.... his humour was a little dry... almost to the point where I thot he was going to start explaining his jokes.... but not to worry, he was not the main act. There was another guy ( sorry I forget his name ) he was humourous, but not histerical. Then our main attraction came out.... HE was FUNNY! we laughed straight for an hour.... oh my gosh he just kept hitting joke after joke, barley time to breath between. Very funny evening!! Here is a sneak peak of what we encountered....

Arbour Lake crop

We read this ad one day about a crop from noon til nine, snack, supper, and all kinds of tools to play with... for 10 bucks! We were quite confused at the price, but signed up anyway? There was only room for 3 of us to sign up from work, as you can imagine at that price it sold out quick. So Me, Holly and Ang packed up the vehicles with as few boxes as scrapbookingly possible, and headed to the crop. Sure enuff, there were no tricks! We each had a whole table to ourselves... and everything offered was there! There were even NEW tools we got to try.... plus, we got supplies for 4 cards to make! Needless to say, it was a hit! We got lots done, had good food, and great company! Awesome way to spend a cold snowy Saturday!
After reading Ang's blog, I stole her pic.... I like it better!
