St Patrick's Day 2014 - Hot Tub Time Machine.

We wanted to go to Nine Fine Irishman for St. Patrick's Day.  It is an authentic Irish Pub.  New York New York Casino actually bought it from Ireland and moved it to Las Vegas.  So it's super cool.  We had to wait two hours for a table but it was worth it.

IT was St. Patrick's Day so people celebrated.  We were trying to describe what the night was like in words and we kept on going back to one of our favorite movies Hot Tub Time Machine. Annnnyway, this is basically what we witnessed at Nine Fine Irishmen that night.  Minus the Hot Tub - but otherwise true. Enjoy!

Vegas part 2

Ok now that I am home, well alomost home, I turned around and headed to the Georgetown, but I should have time to blog here! We met up with our friends Barry and Sheila for lunch and a very kewl coffee at a pretty little mall called Tivoli.

Barry and Sheila

Then we headed to the Neon Museum for our tour. If you haven't done this tour and you love Vegas history.... take this tour!!! it is so awesome!!! These are parts of the old Stardust sign

Vintage Sahara sign

This sign was restored and shines proudly in the museum

On the angle is the Moulin Rouge sign, they were lucky to get this sign, weeks before the hotel burned to the ground!!

And one of my favorite signs fully restored and glowing in all it's beauty, the Silver Slipper !!

The entrance to the museum, this was the entrance to the hotel La Concha, this cement piece was sawed into 8 large pieces, and reassembled here as the lobby. I love this tour!!!

We went for dinner to Mandalay Bay and found House of Blues, the dinner was so yummy, and the entertainment fantastic! This guy came out, he played guitar, and he said let me just build this song? We weren't sure what that meant, but then he played a few notes on the guitar, then he tapped a rhythem on the guitar, then he sang kewl sounds into the mike. Then he started playing and used these bits and pieces to his music... it was awesome!! Wish he was playing all night!! The decor was neat too, their statues and creatures were made out of bottle caps and crushed beer cans!

into the Luxor.... very kewl display for Criss Angel, but we still won't go , unless it;s free. We have hears way too many bad revues!!

Our goal tonight was to walk the strip.... so off we went. Here are the fountains in front of Caesars

The old Flamingo, still stands...

TI or Treasure Island, we were hoping to catch the Sirens show, but they don't do it anymore :-( we were denied twice, once to rain and once to cold.

Hoover Dam day. Another beautiful day in Nevada. And Arizona, which we walked to when we went from one side of the dame to the other.

We messed up our timing so we weren't able to take the long tour. We got the mini version, which was still really kewl. More for next trip....

looking down the Colorado River and a view of Memorial bridge, which was constucted after 9/11 and concern about who was crossing the Hoover dam bridge, so this was the bi-pass and for awhile restricted access only was allowed to drive on the dam bridge.

The Hoover dam from the Arizona side. It was really hard to capture this on one photo! It is just as bigger or bigger than I imagined!!!

After a gorgeous day around the dessert we were off the Mob Museum, This was done so well, great place to visit! It opened months after we were here last, so it was a must this trip. It opened on Valentines day... I'm guessing to honor the St Valentine's day masacre? And yes... that is an evil look on my face!

Mob Museum, it used to be a Postal office and courthouse. They kept the courthouse, and the same judges desk is there where they actually deliberated years ago about the crime in Las Vegas!

Close by the Mob Museum is Freemont Street, so we went for a quick look. The rules are different here, you can't go into stores with open alcohol, but apperently you can stand on the street corner for tips wearing only paint....lol Freemont rules??

Cheers, for all I know I wasn't supposed to cross the street with a beer either.... lol but I have clothes on!!

OMG this was the weirdest casino ever. After going to the Neon Museum we saw a sign for Sassy Sally, and now in it's place is the Mermaid. So we wanted to check it out. It's the only place where you can play with actual coins, and here the ching ching as your winnings fall into the pan.... but... it is so SMALL!! it took awhile to orient ourselves when we realized that the walls are all mirrors to give the illusion of grandeur, but its a narrow strip with awful food and weirdness all around you. The end.... go home lol this is it!! We were lured in with White Castle signs... but were fooled with microwaved burger pucks ROFL!!!

After the old "strip" we headed home, got dolled up and went to Ramsay's steak. were we ever in for a treat of being treated like royalty!!!

Behind Dean you can see the Neon on the roof, that depicts Ramsay's hand movements when he makes his beef wellington

First impression, an ipad plunked in front of us to choose our drinks, there were so many interesting choices,

we ordered the Ramsay Hell Kitchen dinner, everything was incredible, and the meal was spaced out thru the night, it was such a perfect dinner and night. To top it off, we got to keep the menu and a signed pic or Ramsay in front of the Paris. Cheers!! I had raspberry beer YUM

There are a few more pics to post, but they are in the cell phone, or in the tourist photo pacs, which I will scan and show you soon..... here is the airport..... can we stay longer?? or come back soon??

Hotel Excaliber

Vegas tips 102

Always push on your doors to make sure they are locked, first time we did this it pushed open!!

Tourists ripped off in overnight burglaries at Strip hotels

Victoria Spilabotte
CREATED Jun. 12, 2013
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Millions of tourists flock to Las Vegas for a vacation they'll never forget, but for Paul Burke a picture in front of the iconic welcome sign is the only good memory of his trip. He snapped it just before he said his stuff was ripped off from inside his Luxor hotel room.
"We were pretty shocked about," Burke said.
On Skype from Liverpool England, Burke told Action News he checked into the Luxor last week and after a night out on the Strip came back to his room on the 20th floor. Sometime during the night, Burke said a brazen thief came inside and took off with valuables and he didn't hear a thing.
"Didn't hear a sound," Burke said. "Slept like a baby."
Burke said the thief took two cellphones, a camera, clothing and $300 cash. It's crime police call door pushing and it happens when guests think they close the door behind them. But if the door doesn't latch, it's just enough to give a thief entry into a room.
"After the theft we actually couldn't sleep properly at night," Burke said. "We were sleeping with one eye open."
Action News has reported about door pushing before. Last April an Ohio couple told Action News it also happened to them at the Luxor. Both break-ins were reported to hotel security with little luck of every getting anything back.
"There was no forced entry and the door wasn't tampered with," Burke said. "So they said that was the end of the matter and there was nothing we could do."
In a statement to Action News, MGM Reports which owns the Luxor stated "Our resorts have extensive security and surveillance systems in place. Guests should always remain aware of their surroundings and ensure that their hotel room doors are securely closed and locked at all times."

Some weird ritual? putting your empty bud "light" on the light??

We messed with them, and switched them around...lol see if they notice?

There is our castle that we call home for the next few days!

Vegas Baby Happy St Paddy's day

Upon arrival we seeked out our favorite beer store, both of these big bad babies together cost under $6.00, Vegas tip of the day, buy your beer at ABC stores! So we promptly walked the strip, drinking beer as we went and before we knew it.... it was 4AM!!!

Just like in New York the top of the world trade center changes the lights according to holiday. So for this week, it's green!

Love the hustle and bustle on the streets, no matter what time of day or night.

This ir our destination in a couple of nights....

and the menu.... wowsers!!! lol

got my light up green hat.... Happy camper :-)

On the Brooklyn bridge, the weather is beautiful!!

Hahahahahah MINIONS!!!!

The MGM lion glistening in the sun!!

At the Candy factory bar, one side is the candy store, the other side is the pub, and they build their drinks with candy. I ordered the martini with pop rocks on the rim, they also had a fish bowl with gummy fish and dry ice, it looked wickedly kewl... but it was 36.00 bucks!! lol

We went to The site of Pawn Stars, they were filming, and we missed Chumlee by minutes :-( but it was kewl to walk inside and see some stuff for sale that we had seen on TV. I enquired about some items from the Child's Play movie, Chucky, but they all sold already.

Waiting in line.

Funky coke bottle!

Dean found something.... it's kewl, right up our alley, but you have to wait and see lol

Then further down the street was an antique store, I am always looking for old casino chips, and i found some kewl ones here

We drove around the back of Pawn Stars and this was painted on the door. We thot we saw Rick in the car in front of us, but it turned out it was just another bald man, lol he is probably used as decoy so the crew can get out of the building!

St Paddy's day woohoo... big party outside of New York New York with live celtic band, and green beer... wall?? open air to open air people? The statues even donned a green hat and beads... lol LOVE the photo bomber!!!

A sea of green! LOVE seeing that!!

Green bulbs on the bridge... makes for a kewl pic

Then back to the streets, it was windy tonight so I had to hold my hat... and there is more "almost" free beer!!

Happy St Paddy's Day!!! Great place to be for this awesome day!

Lol how things looked by the end of the night !!
