Live From New York, It's Sunday Night!
Well we tried once again to get to the Soup Natzi, we found one that was open to 9:OO but when we got there it was closed. So we went to the post office to mail home a box to lighten the load for the trip home. Anyone notice + said post office? Yes, it's open 24 hours and it was super busy at 8:OO at night!! Now we are having supper, it's 9:.PM and we're at a Deli. We got the window seat and I get to face Madison Square Garden, Dean is facing the Empire State Building! Our food just arrived and it looks awesome, Dean's steak takes up his whole plate!! Well we should be posting pix from the hotel when we get back and the post after that should be from the casa.(Home,unless we see someone famous at the airport!) It's been an absolute perfect, fun, unique 2 weeks.

It is kind of neat ending the trip in a diner much like the one that Seinfeld was set in. It is even more fitting that we are sitting directly across from Penn Station where we first arrived in NYC. In this brief period in NYC, we have seen so much but could spend another week here and still not see it all. I am enjoying a NY steak right now, I thought it fitting to order one...Bryan Adam's Summer of 69 just came on the diner's sound system as if to remind us of our trip tomorrow back to Canada. I bet the Summer of 69 was great but so was the Spring of '08...

For those of you who haven't seen the movie starring Harold and Kumar, Whitecastle has been around since the 1920s and is famous for serving little palm size burgers. They are very addictive....

Dean and Selena...
...At Gordon Ramsay's London Bar.
Today we blog live from Gordon Ramsay's restaurant! Yes we are excited. No sign of the tall Scott anywhere in sight... Lol. The restaurant is beautiful, plain, rustic Ramsay style. Dean ordered a Cooper beer that is. 1O dollars and I ordered a diet coke, and it really is Diet Coke, we even saw the little glass bottle it came out of. I thot it was so cute I asked to keep, the smirking waiter said sure. That may be cheapest souvenier we' ve gotten!!! Anyway, we ordered a mini burger for me and a BLT for Dean also a cheese and olive appetizer. Everything was yummy!! We are like little giddy kids in a candy store!! The other cool thing, he actually uses his Royal Dalton dish set, yes I turned it over like a Hallmark card to check :-)

All over a great experience - my BLT was perfect. The sandwich was plated with engineering precision - it seemed like they designed every bite. The cheese in our appetizer, I have never heard of and can't even pronounce, but was great. The appetizer also consisted of two types of olives and it was complimented with a roasted almond and of course, this was was generously topped with Ramsay's favourite, olive oil. Nicely done, Mr. Ramsay. Spot on.
The London Bar is directly adjacent to the restaurant separated by mostly open air except for two pillars that define the border between The London Bar and The London Restaurant. The Restaurant is packed but was empty just over an hour ago.
I have just ordered a dark beer called The Chimay Rouge brewed by Belgian Monks and is a whopping 7 percent alcolhol by volume. Nothing impressive by Canadian standards in terms of alcohol but wow what a taste. This is the red version of the beer, apparently, there is a white version also... An awesome experience at The London Bar....

Liberty Island
Not the warmest day today... brrrr, strange tho in New York the day is colder than the night? I swear the heat gets trapped in between these buildings and heats up the night! Today we took a ferry over to Liberty Island. The Statue of liberty is so impressive, I was here in 1986 but I didn't get to see her because she was under scaffolding, I learned today why. ( photo below )
After our tour of the island, and the pedestal of Liberty we ferried back to Battery Park. After 9/11 people aren't allowed to go to the top of the statue any more. We took a harbour cruise that went under the Manhattan bridge, and back past Liberty. We walked around the Seaport, had lunch, saw a few museums then headed back downtown. We stopped at Rockefeller center for a bit. Enough of me blabbing, the pictures are better!

Zero to Hero
Today we did the uptown tour, saw alot of famous buildings from TV and the movies. Saw a few mansions, there are only a handful left, most are turned into apartments. We saw a condo today that cost 7 million ( for a broom closet ) in the Plaza facing the river. Right by Central park and the Metropolitan Museum of art. These people would freak out if they saw the big yards we have, I don't think there is one house in Manhattan!! After our uptown loop, we got off the bus at Ground Zero. In a couple of years there won't be a ground zero, as they are starting construction on the new towers. When we first walked up we couldn't see anything it is all tarped up, then we noticed a few rips in the tarp and when you looked through, it took your breath away! It was EERIE!!! The hole left in the ground is HUGE! and when you look across the span of empty area where the towers stood, it gives you a feeling of how big they were. After we walked through the grounds of the miracle church that faced the buildings and still stands! It's such an old church the grave stones are smooth with age, barely legible, if any writing was left at all.
To end the Night on a high note though, we saw a Broadway show called "Curtains" With David Hyde Pierce who was a "hero" in it. It was Awesome!!! It was funny and if you liked Pierce's character Niles, from Frasier, he was in the same character. I'll look for the link tomorrow instead of me writing it out. All you need to know is that we loved it, and it was so cool to go to a Broadway show. We bough tickets last night and were center stage, on the floor 11 rows back!! Amazing seats. Dean looked online and by fluke, they were waiting for us!
We walked all over today, and found that it is faster to walk home 15 blocks than to take a taxi at rush hour, which here is 11PM when all the theaters let out!!

pix of the day and night
The hardest part at the end of the day is trying NOT to post too many pictures, we have so many great ones and to sum up the day in a hand full is impossible!! We filled 5gb of cards so far, and had to buy dvd's to transfer the photo's onto a hard copy so we can take pictures again!!! What am I going to do with all these pictures.... my wheels are spinning!!
