That Time Selena Tried To Buy Some Popcorn

So this a lost blog from a few years ago during a previous trip.

Anyway, Selena wanted to get some popcorn for Maddie to bring home.  It's extremely difficult to find vegan popcorn at this place. Selena picks one and then it has a milk topping. Out. This other one had cheese on it. Out. Another had another disallowed ingredient. The poor popcorn girl really wanted to help.  So she brought out the ingredient Bible.  There's a McDonalds across the way so I'm thinking about a Big Mac maybe.

So Selena takes one look at this big binder and she doesn't have her glasses and says "I can't read." No big. I've heard her use that terminology before. I look back at the Popcorn sales girl and she is giving me a look with lots of mustard on it.  I'm thinking she's exhausted because we are taking all this time to spend 6 bucks on popcorn .

We leave without buying anything.

So on the plane home I'm thinking, why was she looking at me rather than Selena? Selena was being difficult. I just wanted a Big Mac.

Then it hits me.

Selena said "I can't read." She meant to say I don't have my glasses, I can't read your tiny print. The Popcorn Lady took that to mean exactly what Selena said. Selena couldn't READ!

And she was giving me the Look of Death because I knew that and didn't say anything or do anything to help! I was Dorkus Maximus to the Popcorn Lady.

Selena and I had a meeting after this and she agreed if this happens again she would say I Can't See rather than the ambiguous I Can't Read.

There's a BIG difference.

Haunted Calgary

There is a haunted house in Rocky ridge that has been haunting us for years - recently we just found out it is no longer ..... At the house it is now in a mall with so much space of spooky fun!!! We went!!! And loved every spooky blood curtling screaming moment of the three houses!!!! Yay bigger and better!!! Awesome fun!!

Terror train

Wow!! Just went thru the haunted train in Mossleigh Alberta omgosh so much fun !! I was greeted in the haunted house with a bloody hand smeering my face but ok - I'll take one for the team all in good fun!!!

Austriabound

We left Calgary at 3:00 and arrived in Amsterdam, had a 4 hour stop over and then boarded again headed to Vienna. 8 hour difference from here to home, Friday we got our car, and drove to Eisenberg, the GPS sent us to where Dean, Ruby, Chels, Chan, Jade and Ruby were staying. We did some visiting, beer tasting, and then headed down the street to our Hotel. We had a big day the 2nd day of our travels, Papa's birthday party!! Everyone in town and surrounding towns came!

after the party, at 1:30 in the morning... Sigi said he was going to a Buschenshank, we thot he was kidding, but nope! Down the street you could hear one, so me and Dean followed. Ruby and Jade met us, and we met more cousins that were Webers!! So much fun, so many pictures!! But here's a teaser :-) 

Dinner and a horse

Years ago, on an anniversary far far away we had Dinner and a Goat. Tonight we had Dinner and a Horse. Except this horse was pleasant and not as angry looking as the goat. A great night filled with memories of goats past.

Sitting at a restaurant that used to be a movie theatre, what a brilliant way to revive a beautiful old movie house- I saw Phantom of the opera here in grade 4 with my dad, we liked the movie so much we stayed twice, the balcony is still here and the movie screen also - and all around tables! So kewl!!!

In 3 hours me, Dianne, Holly, and Maddie leave for LA to go check out CHA for the first time! We have known about it for years and this is the first time we are able to go - so off we go - test the waters and next year bring the whole lot us!!
