This afternoon we headed out to Montana, Destination Eureka! The trip started out great, we went to Starbucks, ordered 3 drinks and because their debit machine was down, they were on the house! Nice. We drove thru sunny Alberta, then rainy BC, took note of lots of things on Crows Nest Highway to go back and see, and stopped in Eureka at the grocery store to get.... yes groceries, but also meet up with Nana and Papa and follow them back to the cabin. In the parking lot I saw a truck and I said, haha that looks like a wonderbread truck! But when we got closer I saw it was really the polka dot cowboy!! Too cute, and amusing, and blog worthy!!

Ask and you shall recieve....
so, in response to last night's blog. I was very curious as to how Dean Selena got their name.... so I asked them. And in my mail box this afternoon I got my answer......
Selena; Just curious as to how you guys came up with your name? Me and my husband ( Dean ) have a blog together, Dean and Selena and we accidentally landed on your web site the other day, unfortunately it was after the concert date in Calgary or we would have come to see you. We were curious... so how did you come up with the name?
Band;hi,
in fact... i stumbled upon your blog after we had the site up.
Dean and Selena were the first names of my great-grandparents... people were always mis-pronouncing my last name (doerksen) so i decided to stick with a family name that was easier to pronounce.
since you guys are Dean and Selena... does that mean you are destined to be life-long super fans??
haha, either way i hope you enjoy our music and come see us some time... i am honored to share the names.
peace,
richard.
And since I need a picture to go with the blog here you go....this was their night in Calgary!

Antique holds up Modern
I love Maddie's style! We were in the Hat and went into a few Antique stores. One of the stores had a TV sitting outside, Maddie spotted it and was admiring it when a truck pulled up.... a couple got out of the truck, circled the TV, whispered to each other and kept watching us. We kept waatching them in an old silent film fashion. We figured they were here to pilfer the TV for themselves... so ..... I told Maddie to run in and ask the owner what the TV was doing out here, and I would stand gaurd. Maddie ran back outside and said "she told me we could have it" so I ran across to find Ruby, and get the truck backed up so WE could PILFER the TV, ( we had permission tho :-) we loaded the TV into the truck, Maddie jumping up and down in excitment! We texted Dean of our find, but didn't tell him it was free, we were saving that kewl tidbit til later. So when we got home, we plugged it in, just to see. It turns on, just static tho, we kind of expected an old rerun of I Love Lucy to show itself! We googled the TV and could only find out that it was built in the 50's in Montreal, and there aren't alot of them out there. Maddie said I could borrow her TV for Halloween props, but in the meantime, it's her new TV stand for her "new" TV. Great conversation piece!

Reason # 36
...of why I love my husband :-) This past weekend, I had 3 giggling girlies over for a "mock" scrapbook resort crop. They were to bring pillows, bathing suits, all their scrapbook supplies, their appetite and pretend we were away in the mountains. Instead they were nestled into my living room, AKA: Hotel Madese, ( Maddie, Dean and Selena's name combined...) BUT... the key to making believe we were away, was the Blue eyed Chef..... no not Ramsay....AKA: Dean :-)
He put on a chef hat, and served us, breakfast, lunch and supper for 2 days. He tried new recipes on us, and they were a hit. He even made some of Julia Child's coleslaw, and potato salad, complete with home made mayonnaise!!!
Meanwhile back in the "lounge" we scrapped, laughed, drank wine, and hotubbed til the wee hours of the morn, even those who were quoted as saying.... " I don't stay up late" was one of the 3AM gigglers!!!
I had a blast, and judging by the laughter level the girls had a blast, even our Fabulous Chef had a blast!! So thankyou Dean and thankyou Fab 3 of Fab 4 for coming over and having a weekend play date!

POP
Sometimes it's not the object that is funny, but the look on someone's face as it happened! We were going to celebrate with friends and have some bubbly. Well! when we went to open the bottle the cork shot off so fast, the wire wasn't even off it yet..... the expression of the attempted opener was PRICELESS!!! no harm done, no broken glass, no hole in the ceiling and best of all..... nobody lost an eye!... but really really funny!!!

Bubba Gumps?
Haha when you least expect it.... Maddie slept in today, so being the good Mommy I drove her to school, tired and yawning from waking up too early, I saw this sign at the turnoff out of Maddie's school.... I laughed, and laughed and laughed some more.... you know how you get the tired giddy's well, this was one of those times... If you've ever been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant, the signs on the table say Run Forest Run, if you need service, and Stop Forest Stop when you don't..... sigh, for a minute I was back on the dock in Santa Monica Beach when I read that stop sign.... but even there I was laughing..... hehehe
