The Answer To The Most Important Question of the Day!
The answer to the poll question! Maddy and Dean share a passion for this food:
CHIPS!
Glorious chips. Here is a pictoral tribute to mankind's greatest invention - the potato chip:
Except these:
I never liked or understood why ketchup chips ever caught on. They are an insult to this great creation. Anyway - a new poll is up so go vote while I go and find some more chips!

Our 29th Post! Well, what now?
Welcome to to our 29th Post! As you can tell, we have had much fun with this blog. And now just like that, we already have 29 posts. Let us take a look back over the last 23 days, shall we?
We really enjoyed writing this one:
http://deanandselena.blogspot.com/2007/12/one-night-in-evanston.html
That was quite a night. We thought that the only thing we might have to blog about that week was the new Rona!
This post revealed a very strange discovery:
http://deanandselena.blogspot.com/2007/12/i-want-toffifay.html
I really thought it was ToffiFAY all these years. I had no idea it was ToffiFEE. We did some research and apparently it is ToffiFEE everywhere else in the world except the USA where it is ToffiFAY. We have emailed the company for an explanation but they have not responded yet. Like the rest of you I am sure they are saying: "Who cares, dude! Just eat the candy!"
This post was a near "liveblog" as Selena wrote it on a Blackberry immediately after the concert as not to forget any details. She did a great job:
http://deanandselena.blogspot.com/2007/12/made-memory.html
With any blog, you don't just right it for entertainment, you also write it to help and try to educate which was the subject of our cautionary Mr. Bean post:
http://deanandselena.blogspot.com/2007/12/movie-disaster.html
We hope we helped you avoid spending your hard earned money on this piece of coal!
Maddy provides a classic christmas pic in this post:
http://deanandselena.blogspot.com/2007/12/domina-christmas.html
Nice!
Those are just some of our favourites of the blog so far. We encourage you to vote in our never ending poll questions and we always love hearing your comments.
Thank-you for visiting us and we wish all of you a happy and prosperous 2008!

One Caesar To Rule Them All.
We went to Toronto this August, had much fun and learned many things. Here are just five of the things we discovered:
1) Calgary does not have a traffic problem. Toronto has the never-ending rush hour. We were on the 401 at 11am and then again at 11pm - no discernable difference. The only place where they had a normal traffic level was on the toll road - known as the 407 ETR. (Click for link) Yes, toll roads!
2) Niagra-On-The-Lake really is haunted. That's a post in itself. Stay tuned for that one!
3) "Pass The Ace" is the official sport of Six Mile Lake, Ontario. It is fast, furious fun and if you are Maddy, an excellent source of retirement proceeds!
4) Pearson Airport has $9.00 beers and...um, well.......nothing else. How does the saying go? We spent a month there one afternoon! Booooooring! This photo was taken accidently and photographed the most exciting moment there. Thanks for the heads up, Kimney!
5) Uncle Ray makes the best caesars in the land. We also had to travel 3500 kilometres to learn that this drink was created at the Owl's Nest restaurant right here in Calgary. True story! (Click for link)
Well, let me tell you something - the caesar was born again in Six Mile Lake, Ontario.
Thanks Auntie Ritchie and Uncle Ray for such a great time this summer! And we shall be toasting you this Christmas with your very own caesars.

The Case of the Sound of Splashing.
One night, we were all sitting on the couch watching CSI or something eating some Miss Vickies chips no doubt when I heard the sound of splashing. I turned my head and asked "What's that?" and got up to investigate. I walked down into the kitchen and into the laundry room and found nothing. Having invested two full minutes into the exercise, Miss Vickie's Sea Salt and Vinegar began calling out to me, so I concluded my investigation thinking that it must have been the shower head in the bathroom or something. Well, the next morning we came down to the kitchen to discover the source of the splashing noise. I would never have thought of this. Here are the "crime scene" photos: The move must have shook up the bottle and one of them popped. Wow.
Here is the cork is shown against the wall a full 7 feet away - it must have hit the wall at a great rate of speed:

Answer to: Why did we take down the Gazeebo
You were right, we couldn't open the door, there was room enough for us to squeeze thru, about the width of a plate, we would out eat there, risking the chance of overeating and not being able to get back in!! It seemed like such a good idea! I guess next time we should measure with the door open! Can you say "Gazeebo for sale"

It's Rotten!!!
We guarantee it will be kitchen heaven this Christmas at our house, NOT a kitchen nightmare!!
For Ruby and Dean, I hope this explains where we got the quote : "it's rotten" which we said over and over the other night :-)

I want TOFFIFAY!
Lately there has been something happening to us that has become very frustrating. It has cost us some candy and now we are mad enough to blog about it and drag you into this too - all free of charge!
Well, a couple of days ago, this phenomenon happened again. We went to get Diet Coke and picked up some chips and some Toffifay at the 24 hour Shopper's Drug Mart. Again, nothing but excitement in Evanston! Well, the coke and chips made it home but not the Toffifay! Double frustrating! Again!
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago Selena went to the new Rona (nothing but excitement here in Evanston) and bought items like light bulbs, new house keys, tape measure, flowers, barbeque brush, three french hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree. They didn't have the last three items (and they said this RONA had EVERYTHING.) Anyway, Selena was very excited to show me the flowers and couldn't because they went MISSING. Upon hours of looking and other investigative techniques taken from all the crime show TV we watch, we discovered she had left a bag there at the Rona. Frustrating.

So, I am headed to the 24 hour Shoppers right now to get some chips (as Maddy will be arriving home tomorrow from the Dominican-yay) , Diet Coke and some Toffifay. It is apparently a tough mission so I will concentrate extra hard and see if I can pick up ALL the bags I pay for. Anyway, stay tuned for a success/failure update on the quest for these stupid things:
Was I successful? I guess. I went for the above and got these:
What the hell is a Toffifee? Is that plural? Is a 15 piece a ToffiFAY and a 48 piece is a ToffiFEE? Confused!

Made a memory
That was then this is now, he's just as great as always!!
The first band on the stage tonight was Hedley. They were really good, so many bands today sound horrific live, but they sounded just like the songs I downloaded of them, oops did I say that out loud? But onto the real reason we went! The ever awaited Bon Jovi. At first the twanging of banjo and guitar of old country rang into the air while a video screen showed Jon Bon Jovi driving to an old country bar. He gets out of the car and walked into our stage where Richie Sambora's guitar kicks in to today's version of Lost Highway. They started rocking, jumping, playing, singing and hamming up a storm for us. Constantly rolling into one hit after the other. Then Vox took the Mike while Jon went back stage, suddenly like magic Jon appears in the crowd on a platform and starts to sing! From this pedestal he sang a few ballads and told us he was making it up as he goes. I believe him! Hearing "Make a Memory" live was incredible, in fact, it brought a tear! After four or five songs he makes his way back to the stage and plays "Shout" the crowd goes nuts! By now any other concert would have ended, but they kept playing with no sign of letting up. Then the lights go dark and Jon starts to sing "Living on a prayer" with no instruments, the crowd takes over singing and he says to us "that's why I come to Calgary". During the screaming and clapping and the demand for an encore I only saw about 5 lighters? Ah yes, in the land of high tech, everyone else had their phones pointed towards the stage illuminating in place of the fire glow. For his encore he came back singing Santa Clause is coming to town, complete with Santa throwing gifts at the audience. After a few more songs the band takes a bow, and then they shake their heads "nope their not done" they play another oldie "Twist and shout" again the crowds dance and sing, he could've sang anything we would have loved it. Just when I thought I wouldn't get to hear "Wanted Dead or Alive" he starts to play it the crowd starts to sing again, he laughs and says "you're gonna put me out of a job". For his last song which was after 2.5 hours, he hops into the crowd, walked along side the audience and out the back door still singing! Amazing concert. Amazing band. Wow. Thanx to agent 'B' for getting us the tickets!!

One Night in Evanston
Twas not the night before Christmas, and all through the house
2 creatures were stirring, but not Maddy the mouse.
2 creatures were stirring, but not Maddy the mouse.
The beer bottles were stacked on the counter with care,
In hopes that some more Kokanee would soon be there.
The catses were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of the upstairs danced in their heads.
And Selena in her robe, and Dean in the same
Had just settled in the hot tub for a short monopoly game.
When out of the tub there arose such a smell,
We sprang from the water and said " What the Hell!!"
the green glow we had witnessed was not from the tree
instead it was the water, which smelled like the sea
the green glow we had witnessed was not from the tree
instead it was the water, which smelled like the sea
Away to the calendar, Dean flew like a flash,
Tore open the Hot tub manual and let out a gasp
4 months had passed since the water had been changed
and a time to drain the tub was soon arranged
4 months had passed since the water had been changed
and a time to drain the tub was soon arranged
You'd think for a moment that this is where the story would end
but not for these beans..
the night had much more to send
Smelling of swamp we trudged upstairs,
turned on the TV, to watch and be scared
"Ghost Whisperer's on" Selena said with glee
by now we were dry, sitting happy by the tree
The sandman soon found Dean and he started to snore
for god's sake it was 3am, could you expect any more?
"Why yes!" the night answered as we headed to bed
turned off the tree but the room was still red
when what to our wondering eyes should appear?
a big light, four firetrucks and 2 cops, Oh dear!
Mr Sandman had gone, but the swamp smell had not
it was joined by smoke, fire and the lot
a fire was raging about 4 doors down
a house under construction, we were relieved to have found
we pulled on some jeans and went out into the cold
we wanted to watch the story unfold
Calgary's finest were there blocking the street
and who in the world would Mayor Dean meet
a cop he became, a friend from the Hat!
Selena exclaimed "what are the chances of that"
we had no idea what this night had in store
could this night have contained any more?
smoke, fire, swamp and fog!!
we raced to the computer to share this night with you on our blog

Christmas Tree
This is our first Christmas together. We went out and found what we thought was the perfect tree. But they're always wrapped up so it's hard to tell. When we took the net off and it finally unfroze it looked a little thin!!! But then we decorated it, and now it's really pretty :-)

Well, Then, On To Entertainment!
Geez, honey, you really brought in the big guns! In that case maybe Mozza burgers are out! I am not sure the Food Critic will stand for even the finest in A&W cuisine.
Hmmm, ok, I will have to do some more thinking about the food. Well, on to entertainment! How about these dudes?

Hey Babe, I hired the food critic, I think he'll work out fine, I've heard good things about him :-)

LESS than 100 days now!
Holy Crap - you're right! I guess we should start planning this thing. Hmmm - what do we feed everyone? Can McDonalds do that many people at once? Can they keep that many fries warm? How about A&W? Yeah, I think we have something here. If we serve Mozza burgers at a great price - I wonder if this would happen?
