Buffalo Rubbing Stone

Walking thru the Evanston trails we saw a BIG rock. Maddie hopped up on it, and being the namesake of a mermaid, found it funny to pose as one. Then on our walk back again we noticed a sign that told us what the rock was. A buffalo rubbing stone. A little piece of history right in our back yard. When I googled it, I found out there are lots of them scattered throughout the area, and most of them, have a park and sitting area around it.

In case you can't read the sign here is what it says..
"15,000 years ago during the glacial ice age, the foothills Erratic Train deposited this erratic by West Nose Creek. When itchy or trying to remove their winter coats, buffalo would walk in circles around this stone rubbing their hides against the stone surface and creating this depression in the ground around the "Buffalo Rubbing Stone"

So there you have your history story for the day.
