So - we made a quick trip to the house and then we were off like a shot to the airport. They went through our bag and asked if we had scissors in our bag. They ran it through the scanner again and sure enough there were scissors in the bag. They let them pass as they were not sharp enough the secuirity officer said. We surrendered them anyway, figuring that someone in secuirity would have a problem with them down the line. Hats off to the security people at Calgary airport, there were really thorough and friendly - especially when they found out we were freshly married.
We boarded our flight and then we sat on the tarmac. They had to de-ice the plane so we were were about an hour late taking off. This created a mad dash through the Vancouver airport where we had to fill out custom's declarations, grab our bags and go through security checks galore. They were interested in the laptop, of course, and the camera bag. We had to remove our shoes this time and go through the same security checks as before where they looked at the camera bag and thought our USB key drive was a pen knife. After I showed him what it was - he let us pass. Again, very impressed with how seriously and thoroughly the security people in Vancouver do their jobs! We cleared Customs and went through security and got to our gate in record time. We took off on time from Vancouver and the Captain came on and said we were going to take advantage of jet stream with a 100 mile an hour tailwind. Well, he sure did! Our flight was supposed to be 2 hours and 23 minutes and ended up being 1 hour and 20 minutes and the pilot set the plane down like he landed it the plane on a pillow. Nice! Great job Air Canada!
And here we are - at Hotel Majestic enjoying some wonderful San Franciso weather. It is a beautiful day here! We just awoke from a little nap as we were quite exhausted from all the excitement in the last 24 hours.
We are going to hit the town and find some food, get our bearings and enjoy this beautiful city.
On the plane we watched some of the video, thanx again to Todd, Miffy and Nichole for caprturing the magical moments!! They are priceless!
