Live from Union Square.

Today we are heading towards the famous Union Square. We hopped on the legendary cable car you see in many movies about this city.

Union Square is beautiful and I am getting those signature whiffs of pot here. This is California after all. We have the cast of characters here in the park: The tourists (us), the book worms reading and eating their lunch before disappearing into one of these beautiful buildings rushing back to work, the guitar player strumming away - maybe writing a song we'll hear some day and the 80 year old man - clad in only shorts, picking Union Square to relax and suntan while the traffic, firetruck sirens and cable cars rush past. I guess he has seen it all and nothing phases him anymore.

An interesting moment: We were having a home made corn beef sandwich at Lefty O' Douls bar. Suddenly, there was an eruption of applause I interpreted as if the Flames had just scored. I turned my head to see the monitor broadcasting a story on CNN. The markets had just closed up nearly 400 points. So even in peace loving, anti-profit, anti-corporate, home of the hippie - good financial news is good financial news and it was cool to witness the celebration.
