...just wanna be loved Bayou, just you ...

Yes, today was our tour on the Bayou. We caught a bus, went across the Mississppi and caught our boat, to sail amongst the alligators. It was another beautiful day, we had a great tour guide and learned a little something about an old Seinfeld episode where they talked about Nutriums. They are cute little furry creatures the locals call rats, that are taking over their swamp land, so, they want you to hunt them, eat them, use their fur, anything, just get them off their land!! In Seinfeld it was the Kenny Roger's roasters where they talked about these beasts, and we didn't have a clue what they were. Anyway, back to the swamp tour. We were shown what alligators looked like, how they clamp down and crush bones, the fun stuff. I thought the odds were low of us seeing one but Captain Tomas assured us we would. He was such an enthusiastic man for someone who sees this stuff everyday, he got just as excited as us when he talked about things. So we are pushed off the dock and within minutes we see our first alligator, he was little, "only" 6 feet long, longer than I'd want to meet in person! Tom, threw some marshmellows at him, and the gator turned towards us and came to eat his treat! It was so cool, we saw some great Cranes, and then the grand daddy of gators, he was about 30 years old and 10 feet long, he was old and slow, and he watched us with his one good eye, but didn't move an inch! Our poor captain was getting uspset that he hadn't found a snake to show us, and then there were 2 sleeping on a tree! We stopped at one place where he had a fishing cage out to catch some crabs, he pulled in his net and there were a couple of blue crabs in it. He showed off his catch, and set another net down. It was a really cool tour, we were out in the boat about 2 hours, then back to dry land with no strings of ferns hanging off the tree limbs. Back to the Quarter we went.....
